    Manresa is a three-starred Michelin restaurant located in Los Gatos, California that continues to expand in the South Bay Area. Owner, Chef David Kinch, and his business partners also own and operate a growing number of businesses such as the ever-popular Manresa Bread bakery and The Bywater restaurant.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    Summary/Objective

    The human resource manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and strategy of the human resource function.

    Essential Functions

    1. Develops and administers various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel.
    2. Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
    3. Monitors and continues to develop the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
    4. Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; rewrites job descriptions as necessary prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; manages workers compensation claims, performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, open enrollment, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow.
    5. Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference and background checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews.
    6. Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in manager staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed. Maintains employee directory.
    7. Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
    8. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position manages one employee also in the department and is responsible for their performance management.

    Work Environment

    This job operates mainly in a professional office environment, but frequents commissary kitchen, retail shops, and several restaurants. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires responding to messages on the weekend. Possibilities for position to be scheduled Wednesday through Sunday if preferred.

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for manager retreats, etc..

    Required Education and Experience

    A bachelor's degree and three to five years of human resource HR Generalist experience, or two years of HR Management experience.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    A master's degree in human resource management and/or BA with a HR Certificate.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    HRCI’s PHR, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
