Workplace Violence & Trauma - some best practices "just in case..,"

Unfortunately a “hot” topic in the news lately – join us to learn and review some best practices and share stories.

Chris has a background in both hightech and biotech and is currently working closely with multiple VC firms from the HR standpoint.  Chris was head of HR at ESL on February 16, 1988 when Richard Wayne Farley, a former employee who had been terminated seven months earlier, returned to the company and shot 12 employees, seven of them fatally.  Chris says the learning that resulted from that tragedy was significant, but not exactly what one might have expected.

Chris will share his experiences and insights from this and other more recent situations such as SiPort, a small electronics company in Santa Clara, and the Kaiser Cement shootings where he assisted as a consultant.

Learn from Chris and your colleagues as we discuss essential practices and new ideas to refresh your workplace violence policies. Leave better prepared to lead and protect your organization, your people, and your community.

    Learning Objectives:

    • The critical importance of tactical planning and preparation
    • Why the first 48 hours post-incident are so critical
    • Legal and moral issues surrounding workplace violence
    • Restoration of “safety” – bringing people back to work and the new normal
    • Key partnerships and outside resources
    • Recognizing the danger signs

With events getting a bit too numerous to name lately, it's obviously a very serious topic, but is also one that that everyone should have thought about and done some quiet planning for.  This is, or can be, something that unfortunately touches a lot of lives today and one that HR is clearly impacted by and one that you need to take a leadership role in.   REGISTER, using the PayPal link today!
