    Crafting Successful Retention Strategies in Light of a Turbulent Economy, M&A Threats and Risk of Underwater Equity

    In this highly interactive session, John Radford returns to BAHREC to review the impact of the current economic downturn on the latest trends in base salary budgets, incentive cash compensation and equity distributions. John will examine creative programs that companies have implemented in order to retain key employees, deal with the loss of equity values and reward top talent at both the executive and employee levels. Finally, John will touch on the recent trends in M&A activity, considerations as either the buyer or the seller, and how equity distributions are affected.

    About Our Presenter

    John Radford co-founded Radford Associates in 1975 and led the firm to a premier market position as the top compensation survey provider for the technology industries. After nearly 20 years at Radford, he accepted the top compensation position at Cisco Systems where, over the next eight years, he implemented some of the most recognized and leading compensation and HR-related programs in the field. 

    John rejoined Radford Surveys + Consulting in 2002 as a senior vice president. His primary responsibilities include the overall management of the Global Life Sciences Survey and the management of the company's Strategic Steering Committees. He also is a regular speaker on a wide variety of compensation topics. 

    John holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master of business administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
