These are unprecedented times and I know many of you are going above and beyond your work deliverables, to serve the communities we live in during this challenging time, as the U.S. deals with COVID-19 (coronavirus). 

So many of us have been in reaction mode the past weeks that it can be difficult to look ahead as there are so many demands of us to look around and look back. What can we do right now? What could we have done differently? Is there more we could be doing?

Our History:   The Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management, was founded in 1980 and at that time was known as ASPA South Bay Chapter.     

We later changed our name to BAHREC (Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council) to meet the  development needs of senior human resource professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, although our membership has grown and evolved to meet ever-changing business needs, we remain true to our original mission. 

Benefits of becoming a Member: BAHREC is focused on the strategic growth and development of Bay Area Human Resources executives.  We aim to provide opportunities where the members can share strategic best practices with each other or participate in key initiatives that elevate

1. Executive Programs.  BAHREC has been a leader in providing superior programs from thought leaders around the world. Typically, on the third Wednesday of every month, we conduct a meeting addressing many of the issues you may be facing in your work.  In the past few years we have featured programs relating to:

  • Social Media & Marketing Your Company
  • Inclusion & Diversity

  • Strategies for HR Analytical Leaders

Networking with Senior Leaders in the Industry.  BAHREC is one of only three executive HR Chapters in the United States.  Our members are selected based on their expertise and seasoned background.  We require that our members have 10 or more years of Human Resources management experience and have held senior roles in their companies.  This is a great opportunity to get answers to questions, interact and socialize with leaders who share the same problems.

3. Giving Back to the Community.  At BAHREC we not only believe in advancing the profession, but advocating for a better world.  Several times a year we partner with organizations locally and around the Bay to fund raise and support our community.  We have worked with the SHRM Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank, One Warm Coat and many other groups to advocate a better community.

4. Legislative Advocacy.  Representing smart intelligent legislation on the state and federal level is just another area where we take an active role in government.  Your annual fees help BAHREC send a representative to Washington D.C and the state capitol to talk to our legislators about laws that make sense for everyone.

5. Post Jobs.  Members can advertise their HR openings for free on the BAHREC website and on our Social Media channels.  Just send us a copy of your job and we will make sure the best in the Bay Area know about it.
